Heavy Shape Extrusion

Aluminum Extrusion Heavy Shapes

Thermoprene has the ability to run heavy shapes for applications where wall thickness, aesthetics, or secondary operations require more land to the material.  Heavy wall shapes need to be evaluated individually, and no generalizations can be made with regard to the ratio of perimeter, circle size, wall thickness, number of hollows, etc.  All factors contribute to the realization of an extrudable shape, and Thermoprene can help guide the design process to that end.  This particular shape is a customized handrail for a high end architectural application.  To eliminate the need for cast or machined end caps which would have an exposed seam, the architect instead chose to produce a solid shape, which could be milled at each end for the desired solid appearance.  In fact, this extrusion weighed over 6 lbs. per foot.  We have produced sold extrusions with weights of up to 25 lbs. per foot. Thermoprene is confident they can assist you with any aluminum extrusion you need.
