Oil Boom Connectors
Thermoprene manufactures and stocks Oil Boom Connectors for floating oil boom containment systems. Our Oil Boom Connectors are produced to meet ASTM F2438-04. This is the current standard connection system required by BP for oil containment in the Gulf of Mexico.
The Oil Boom Connector is designed to be compatible with other existing connection profiles, including "Z" Connectors and the Light Duty Mini-Slide Connectors now in service. Thermoprene offers no warranty of performance when mating to other manufacturer's standardized systems. Customer is responsible for verifying compatibility.
Material in stock is extruded from 6061-T6 alloy, and fabricated per the drawing below @ either a 24" or 36" length and with two pin holes per the ASTM standard section 4.7.2. Fabric backing plate is configured to mate with our stock bolt-hole pattern. Stock material is mill finish (as extruded) and can be anodized per customer request. Stock connectors are sexless (neither male or female). Stock connectors are universal (neither left-hand or right-hand).
Thermoprene stocks bulk profile extrusion for both the Oil Boom Connector and fabric backing plate shown in the drawings below. Custom fabrication is available on our stock material.
